Who runs this site
Aichi Eats is an independent, individually operated guide to eating in Aichi Prefecture, Japan. It is not affiliated with any restaurant, tourism board or government body. Reach the operator at the address on the contact page.
What the site itself stores
Nothing on a server. The site is generated ahead of time and served as files. When you press Save on a restaurant, the identifier of that restaurant is written to your browser’s local storage under the key “aichi-eats:saved”. It stays on your device, is never transmitted, and clearing your browser data deletes it permanently.
Server logs
The hosting provider that serves these files keeps standard access logs, which typically include your IP address, the page requested, the time and your browser’s user agent. These are handled by the provider for security and reliability. The operator of this site does not build profiles from them.
Advertising cookies
This site may display advertising served by Google. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to this site and other sites on the Internet. You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google’s Ads Settings, and out of third-party vendors’ cookies at aboutads.info.
Consent in the EU, the UK and California
If you read this site from a region covered by the GDPR, the UK GDPR or the CCPA, a consent message is shown before personalised advertising cookies are set, and your choice is remembered. You can change it at any time from the privacy link that message provides. Refusing consent does not restrict any part of the guide.
Affiliate links
Some outbound links to shops, tours and accommodation are affiliate links, meaning a commission may be paid if you buy something after following them. The price you pay is not changed by this. Affiliate links are marked as sponsored in the page source and are never allowed to change which restaurants appear or in what order.
Content loaded from other companies
Restaurant photographs are loaded directly from HOT PEPPER Gourmet’s servers, map tiles from OpenStreetMap, and videos from youtube-nocookie.com, which does not set tracking cookies until you press play. Because these files come from those companies, their servers see your IP address and the page you are on. Their own privacy policies apply.
Analytics
This site uses Google Analytics 4 to count how many people read which pages. The tag is loaded from Google and writes cookies in your browser so that one visit can be told from another. What it records is the pages you open, your approximate region, and the kind of device and browser you use — not your name, your email address or anything you type. Your IP address is used to work out that approximate region; according to Google, Analytics 4 does not log or store it. If you would rather not be counted, install Google’s official opt-out add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, or turn on your browser’s tracking protection. Opting out does not restrict any part of the guide.
Children
This site is written for adults planning meals and travel. It is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.
Your rights and how to use them
Because no personal data is stored by this site, there is generally nothing to export or delete beyond what your own browser holds. For anything concerning the advertising vendors above, the request should go to them. Questions about this policy can be sent to the contact address, and will be answered in English or Japanese.
Changes
When this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. Material changes will be noted on the page for at least thirty days.
